56 signed L&C contracts nixed by new board, despite attorney’s warning of legal risk

Despite pleas to reconsider and their attorney’s opinion that Lewis and Clark Community College could find itself in a difficult legal battle if it voted to invalidate 56 administrative contracts approved earlier this month, newly-elected members of the college’s Board of Trustees — and their new chairman — voted to do just that Tuesday.

It had been just a few minutes since newly-elected trustees Kevin Rust, Julie Johnson and Charles Hanfelder were sworn into their seats at Tuesday’s special meeting before facing down a crowd of opposition and criticism.
