The University of Virginia Board of Visitors reinstated Teresa Sullivan as president at a special meeting today.
Sullivan and Helen Dragas, rector of the board, walked in together to the 3 p.m. meeting.
Sullivan's forced resignation, announced June 10, ignited a firestorm of protest from faculty, students and alumni. If the decision had not been reversed, her tenure would have been the shortest of any president in U.Va.'s 193-year history.
Shortly after the vote, which capped a brief meeting, Sullivan thanked the board for its confidence in her.
