A University of Montevallo student is under suspension after an investigation led authorities to believe the individual is responsible for causing the disturbing deaths of three cats found on campus in October.
"We've identified a suspect, and so we are going to continue that investigation, carry it through and hopefully get some resolution and press charges," Jamie Bessette, director of university relations, said this morning.
"It is a student, and that student has been suspended," Bessette added, declining to release any details about the individual's identity. "We really believe we have seen the end of these incidents."
The university's police department issued a crime alert Oct. 25 about the animal cruelty cases after the separate discoveries of three dead cats that had been killed in a potentially disturbing manner.
