Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board debuts site to compare colleges

On Wednesday the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board will launch Compare College Texas, an attempt to organize confusing data so future students can weigh their choices.

The new site organizes the accountability data the board has been tracking since 2004 that is plentiful and tedious to weed through (trust me).

“It’s great data if you know what you’re looking for,” said board spokesman Dominic Chavez. “But instead of relying on people to come and get it, we put it in a format that’s easy to read.”

If you go to the site — http://comparecollegetx.com — and type in a college you come to a page with some basic information about enrollment, what kind of school it is (research, comprehensive, emerging research) and the top five majors.
