Purdue University once again has the fastest university-owned super computer in the world, unveiling the powerhouse just in time to end Indiana University’s two-month reign at the top of the list.
“That’s not why we do it, but it’s nice because it’s not just our opinion. It is determined in a very objective way,” said Gerry McCartney, vice president for information technology, CIO, and Oesterle Professor of IT. “What’s really great is that Purdue and IU are both really stepping into this.
This is a very, very sophisticated tool to help faculty conduct their research … what we’re trying to show here is that we’re providing our faculty with the best possible tool.”
