College and university officials in Rhode Island say schools largely escaped damage from Superstorm Sandy and that classes will resume Wednesday.
The Providence Journal reports that classes were canceled at all area colleges and universities Tuesday. But dining halls, on-campus libraries and recreational facilities were open on limited hours.
Rhode Island College's library and student union were closed Tuesday. Both are staffed by state workers and some were told to stay home. School officials say all facilities will be operating Wednesday.
