Doreen Forsythe is why Drake State Technical College held its annual Summer Technology Institute.
"I didn't know Drake had all this," said Forsythe, a former engineering and physics teacher at Lee High School. "I had no clue."
Indeed, getting the word out is exactly why Drake State brought 20 high school and middle school teachers and counselors to its campus this month for 10 days of intensive exposure to the school's technical programs.
Programs that, according to STI Director Orenthal Lewis, could help graduates land jobs making as much as $60,000 in construction, for example.
