The union representing professors at the 14 state universities are meeting with system negotiators today trying to bridge the divide between their respective bargaining positions on terms of a new contract.
The faculty has been working since June 30, 2011, with a contract.
This was the last scheduled negotiating session before classes resume next week at Shippensburg and the following week at the other 13 universities for the system’s 115,000 students.
Union officials have suggested that failure to reach a settlement soon could result in a strike that would disrupt the spring semester classes.
