Oakland University Social Work Program Receives National Accreditation

Oakland University's social work program has been nationally accredited by the Council of Social Work Education, meaning that the university can now grant bachelor's degrees in the field.

The process for the university's social work program to become accredited took four years. Previously, disciplines in social work were only offered as a collaboration between the anthropology and sociology departments.

“The accreditation process has a direct impact on our students, who are required to graduate from an accredited program in order to get their individual licenses,” Lisa Salton, director of the social work program, said in a news release.
