Millersville University gets good grades on teacher training programs

A national report on the effectiveness of teacher training programs gives relatively high marks to Millersville University.

But officials at the university — and others in the teacher training field — say the report is misleading and unreliable.

The National Council on Teacher Quality report, released this week, is critical of America's teacher preparation colleges and universities, calling them "an industry of mediocrity."

It found that fewer than 10 percent of the 1,130 programs it evaluated earned a rating of three out of four stars and only four programs earned four stars.
