Crime isn’t funny. But the University of Texas Police Department sometimes takes a bemused approach to reporting on it.
Today’s installment of Campus Watch, which summarizes the latest incidents, is a case in point.
It turns out that “a non-UT subject” was found sleeping at the southwest portion of the Texas Union next to the entrance to the Cactus Cafe, the school’s venerable bar and music venue.
“During the investigation, the subject informed the officers he had believed he was sleeping on church property,” Officer Darrell Halstead reported. “For some people the Cactus Cafe is considered a religious experience, in this case, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area.”
