BINGHAM FARMS, MI – October 5, 2012 – After a thorough search for a new system to manage academic and administrative data, Jacksonville College partnered with EMPOWER Student Information System for a fully integrated solution.
“Our previous student information system had become outdated and inefficient,” said Jacksonville’s Chief Information Officer, Michael Creech. Additionally, an increase in enrollment and the expectation of continued growth meant finding a new system was a top priority.
Before switching to EMPOWER, much of the college’s data was fragmented and inaccessible. “Managing the old system was a headache,” said Creech. “Some departments were unable to share data through the system, and often had to resort to reentering data into separate databases.”
Features like online registration and self-service access for students, faculty, and staff provide the flexibility the college needs to handle its everyday needs. Creech added, “We chose EMPOWER to manage our student data because it met or exceeded all of our requirements at an affordable price.” In addition to campuswide data integration, EMPOWER provides the tools necessary to effectively manage admissions, records, financial aid, and more.
EMPOWER also offers thorough technical support and hosting options, ensuring the security of critical data. “Student information systems are critical to the mission of any college, so technical support is always a major concern,” said Creech. “After talking with EMPOWER users from a number of other institutions, we were happy to learn that all of them give EMPOWER’s technical support very high marks.”
