EMU Regents Tell University's President To Get Her Drinking Under Control

The Eastern Michigan University regents have threatened to fire President Susan Martin unless she gets her drinking under control. The Board of Regents, in a letter dated May 17, cited several incidents involving alcohol including one in April at an alumni event in Washington. "It is, however, incumbent on us to emphasize the severity of this incident and its potential impact on your role and symbol of the university," wrote the board's executive committee. In an email to the campus today, Martin said the incident wouldn't happen again.
