The VM0808H 8x8 HD matrix video switch from ATEN is capable of routing up to eight HDMI sources to a maximum of eight HDMI
displays. It offers a Power on Detection feature where, if an HDMI source is powered off, the unit can automati-cally switch to the next powered-on source. The new VC1080 is a universal AV to HD scaler designed to efficiently convert component, composite, S-Video, and VGA video with audio to HDMI.  The VC1080 provides chrominance and luminance separation for composited video, and deinterlacing for smooth video playback. It supports HD digital video up to 1080p and computer monitor videos up to 1920 x 1200 resolutions.

 

Perfect Projection

ViewSonic’s new projectors in the PJD6 Series include PJD6353s, PJD6383s, and PJD6683ws. The projectors aim to make it easy to share presentations and images in smaller environments, thanks to its high quality short throw optical lens design and contrast ratio of up to 15,000:1. The PJD6 Series models are equipped with Dynamic PC and Dynamic Movie modes, so that the projector can automatically detect and adjust lamp brightness according to image content. The PJD6383s and PJD6683ws are XGA and WXGA native resolution models and both offer 3,000 ANSI lumens of brightness suitable for medium and large classroom, as well as boardroom projection. The PJD6353s supports an XGA resolution and 2,500 ANSI lumens, offering flexibility for small spaces. Priced at $599 to $749, these projectors feature built-in 10W stereo speakers and connectivity options including HDMI, the PJD6 Series delivers multimedia presentations in clear surround sound.

 

Whiteboard and Screen in One 

The Insta-DE2 from Elite Screens is a wall covering film material that instantly converts entire walls into a professional dry-erase whiteboard and projection screen surface for standard or short-throw projector usage. It’s made with the Greenguard certified VersaWhite “whiteboard-projection screen,” coated with an antiscratch surface for daily dry erase whiteboard usage. The Insta-DE 2 has a special anti-reflection diffusion layer to provide a wide viewing angle for projection applications. Priced at $129 and up, it combines the needs of both chalkboard and drop down projection screen into one solution.

 

Big Bass

The HRSIW8, an in-wall dual-driver eight-inch subwoofer from Sunfire, features the patented Stillbass anti-shake technology.  This technology helps eliminate mechanical vibration, improving bass definition while helping to contain the bass to the room in which it is mounted. The Stillbass technology, coupled with Sunfire’s High Back-emf designed woofers, helps provide pounding audiophile-grade bass from a subwoofer that easily retrofits into a standard 16-inch on-center stud bay. Priced at $1,700, the HRSIW8 features a frequency response of 33Hz-150Hz, maximum output of 106dB, balanced and unbalanced line level inputs, gold-plated speaker terminals, and adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters.

 

PC-Free Projection 

Epson’s new PowerLite 1700-series and expanded PowerLite 1900-series projectors, with EPSON iProjection app, allows users of both series to present from most iOS Apple devices running iOS 4.2 or later, including the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The Powerlite 1700-series ($649 to $1,099) is 1.7-inches and 3.7 pounds. The series features a HDMI connection for high-quality video and digital audio, as well as connectivity with a USB memory device for easily viewing and sharing pictures without a computer. The Powerlite 1900-series, priced from $1,299 to $1,899, is intended for small- to medium-room use, such as in a boardroom or classroom. A split-screen option gives presentations flexibility with two side-by-side windows and three layout options allowing video and presentation materials to run at the same time. Four computers can simultaneously project via the network with a four-way split-screen. 

 

Perfectly-Fit Projections

The Installation Series 3LCD, a line of projectors from Hitachi, now has six new models. With two HDMI inputs, the projectors allow for digital connectivity and feature motorized focus, zoom, and lens shift, enabling easy adjustment of the image. In addition, several Installation Series models also feature 360-degree off-axis display, which is ideal for creative applications. Images can be properly positioned using the digital keystone (horizontal and vertical) and Perfect Fit technology. An optional wireless adapter enables users to connect their PC to the projector via a wireless network.

 

Interactive Flat Panel 

BenQ’s new 42-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch interactive flat panels feature 1920x1080p full HD resolution. The T420, T650, and TL550 combine high dynamic contrast ratios with touch technology and multimedia connectivity. Displayed image and spreadsheets become a multitouch screen when paired with Windows 7, for versatile presenter and listener interaction and collaboration. Two incoming images can be displayed simultaneously, while delivering optimum visual clarity and color presentation under uniform brightness and low temperature.  Pricing ranges from $2,999 to $8,999.

 
 

Simple Internal PCs

NEC Display Solutions’ new Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) compliant computers, OPS-PCIC-5WH with a 250GB disk drive, and OPS-PCIC-5WS with a 32GB solid state drive, offer seamless integration with select NEC large-screen displays and multimedia projectors. Both are embedded with Windows 7. These internal PCs can run multiple video formats and high-definition content at 1080p and are targeted for use with digital signage. Made with a steel chassis to protect internal components during handling and installation, they utilize Intel Sandy Bridge microarchitecture with a 2.5GHz Dual Core i5 CPU and 2GB of RAM. With an integrated Ethernet connection, a DisplayPort output and four USB ports, connectivity is easy to manage and simple to use. Pricing starts at $1,200.
